Don't hate me. It was boring, right? I'll fully admit to being distracted by chores around the house and a toddler, but I have to say I didn't ever feel like I had to sit down and keep an eye on the race. I also have to feel bad for the 42. It was a lame duck on the straight up the hill. They never ever had a chance after the restart.
Oh and the penalty on the #4 Vette? Wow. Same with the penalty on the #55 BMW.

It was pretty uneventful. I caught up on some work while watching it and was really productive, so that tells me something right there. At least the PC cars were better behaved than last time all 4 classes were on track.
Gotta admit that penalty on the Vette (despite my dislike of the vettes) was bogus. On the other hand it did cause another car to loose a lot of time, so I can understand why they felt the need to do something about it.
Happy to see the Vipers on the podium again... and in the throwback livery nonetheless.
If anything, this race cemented in my mind that the DP and the P2 cars should not be raced in the same class.

I said this before the season started. The car that is faster in a straight line will never be passed by the car that is faster in the corners. You overtake at the end of a straight you don't overtake in a corner. The fundamental principals behind the two cars are so drastically different that one is significantly handicapped against the other on any track where straightline speed is important (Daytona and Watkins Glen). That's really disappointing too. The DPs are usually very exciting to watch and very competitive. I wish the P2s were right there with them but they're hamstrung.

The downright pathetic Continental tires don't help the P2s at all either.

As much as I thought this race was a snoozefest (especially compared to the Indycar double header in Houston!), the DP vs P2 action was the most interesting part for me. I actually really like them competing against each other, though they really need to balance them better.

Watched here and there. When the last half hour came up, I settled down for a good run to the end. What a fricking joke.

Interestingly those were necessary yellows and the fact that they got the race green twice shows they've got their act together relative to Sebring. Other than that there were only 2 other yellows the whole race which basically destroyed the idea of close racing for the win.

I think that that's a reasonably fair way of putting it; the current level of balance is skewed toward the DP cars, not so much performance-wise as it is tactics. With a DP car right in front of them, a P2 car is unable to play to their strengths.

The first of the late cautions tightened the field up nicely. It looked like a great sprint was coming. Unfortunately, the second caution ruined that. Maybe NASCAR should look at red flags as a possibility.

enough problems with contrived racing arguments. Plus in a timed race the clock doesn't stop for a red flag. The 42 didn't have a shot at the 90 after it got by. The race was over. Getting it green again was more or less useless and would have been if they had even added another 15 minutes. Maybe GT-LM would have been exciting, but the race for the overall win was decide when the first of the last two yellows flew

I think it goes without saying that a red flag should also stop the clock or no point in having it. Agree on the outcome. The DP is very hard to keep behind a PC from a start. They seem to need a little more time to get up to their best.

I'll agree that the GT-D Audi did lose a little time when it turned into the Corvette (who hit who's door), but that was a racing incident all the way, causing no damage or run position to either car. If it had been the Vette that hit the Audi in the door, then yeah, hit the Corvette for avoidable contact, as it was, the Audi is the offender here....
BTW: What's with the door sticker on the 4 Corvette, and why would they be penalized for IMSA's crappy sticker quality?
